Hi, My name is Simon Dodd and currently have the nickname of 'Scouse' due to my city of origin- Liverpool-(Scousers).
I am currently a Student Paramedic with the East Midlands ambulance service in the UK. I am hoping to complete my Para entrance exam early next year and then complete my Para course not long after.
My long term ambition is to become a Paramedic within the US, hence me writing this. Is there anyone who can give me information on how I would go about joining a Fire Dept, and would I need to train as a Firefighter or do they employ people in the single roll of Paramedic. The reason I ask this is I am now 38 yrs old and think I would find it difficult to firstly pass any fitness test(especially the standard excpected in the US) and secondly as I will still be relatively wet behind the ears as a Para I think there would be more than enough to concentrate on converting my current protocols for the UK into US protocols and drug dosages.
If anyone would care to reply to this post or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org I would be very grateful. Many thanks for taking the time to read this, bye Scouse Dodd
