I am wondering how many other departments are wearing steel toed station boots. We have a fire/ems running at our department. Of course our turnout boots have the protection. But, we do urban interface and EMS runs. We are wearing around these heavy *** station boots that are a fatigue factor. I came from a forest fire background where we never used steel toes. I can't understand why we can't get rid of them for station wear. 1 extra pound on your feet is like 10 on your back. What are you guys wearing?

Steel toed boots
I wear steel toed boots, but I had to try on may different brands and look around for almost a year until I found a pair that I felt were light and comfortable. Just keep looking and take your time.

Steel toed, steel shanks for our station wear boots. It's a workers comp thing. They are fairly light weight and comfortable enough.

I got a pair of Dakota's from Marks Work Warehouse with the reflective tape. They're warm and comfy - a tad heavy but I got used to them.

Station boots don't have to be heavy. There are several lightweight boots out there with composite instead of steel toe caps. We went to a lightweight zip/lace boot from Converse a few years ago as an option for station wear and they're working out real well, IMHO.

I hate boots...but I found a pair made by 5.11 Tactical that I love. They are comfortable, easy to walk in and I actually don't mind wearing them!
