I am wondering how many other departments are wearing steel toed station boots. We have fire/ems running at our department. Of course out turnout boots have the steel toe protection. But, we do urban interface and EMS runs. We are wearing around these heavy *** station boots that are a fatigue factor. I came from a forest fire background where we never used steel toes. I can't understand why we can't get rid of them for station wear. 1 extra pound on your feet is like 10 on your back. Can anyone direct me to links for fatigue factors/ studies done etc. I have yet to find a good steel toe boot that is reasonable weight yet still has decent support. What are you guys wearing?
