Ive got a few cases under the belt. Beer isn't hard, but I never really felt I was getting ahead in the process. The beer came out well, but not that much better than what I would buy. Im doing wine now, too early to see how that will turn out.
Stay away from the Mr. Beer kits, you'll want a separate primary and secondary to keep sediment out of the beer bottles. I think I got my set for about $60. That was a primary bucket, a secondary with spigot, brush, spoon, racking tube and a bottle filler. A capper was included as well.

Believe it or not but my fiance has picked up this hobby.
The beer she brews is really good and she's created quite a few brews of her own by experimenting. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want.
We both definitely appreciate some of the finer points now that we've seen what goes into it.So you call this your free country

I used to brew my own, I want to get back into it. The biggest pain was dealing with the bottles. But if you get a couple of those keg deals I imagine it to be a lot easier. I bought two of the plastic barrels, the air lock, some hose, a spigot, and a capper. I took one of the bins and put the spigot in it about 1 to 1 1/2 inches off the bottom. This was the one I used to make the brew. By being just off the bottom I could transfer the brew from one to the other and leave the sediment behind. I would also strain it during transfer.
The other thing I did was buy the cans of malted barley, the hops, and the yeast separately. I could then make some very interesting beers. And this is where I would screw up. I didn't keep track of the recipes, so when I made a really good one, I didn't know how to make it again. I bought some corn sugar to use when the beer was bottled. You added this in to give it carbonation. I found that I didn't need much either. The kits are good to get you started. I recall the first beer I made from a kit wasn't all that good. I also learned that I needed to cut back on some things.
All and all, it is fun, and you get beer for a lot less than what you would pay for it in the store.

I think the first multi trillionaire will be whoever invents instant beer.
I'm not talking where you put the ingredients in a keg and wait a week or two.I am talking about opening a pouch, pouring the contents into a glass of water, stirring and enjoying.

Yea, I think it is cheaper. You are getting a top quality beer so comparison the price to Milwaukees Worst isn't really valid. Compare it to a Heineken or Becks.

I bought the Brewing Starter Kit above. I've only done one batch and it wasn't bad to do. I also did a recipe kit, so it made it easy. I bought the mini-kegs, so I didn't have to mess with all the bottles.
