Default C'mon, you know you wanted to be in on this one.....

Cat in Tree Rescued With Hose Blast
    By Associated Press

YONKERS, N.Y. - A fearful feline that was stuck in a tree for a week, clinging to branches several stories high, was finally blasted to safety with a high-pressure fire hose.

Volunteers with an outstretched sheet made the save as the cat _ soaked and hungry but unharmed _ was hosed out of the tree by firefighters Sunday night.

"Everyone was cheering," said artist and animal rescuer Greg Speirs, who was among about 50 people assembled beneath the willow tree.

The cat had previously ignored people who banged cans of cat food and climbed ladders that were just out of reach. It took two shots with the hose to do the trick.

"As soon as the cat landed it jumped out and ran into the woods," Speirs said Monday.

"Some kids helped us bring the cat back, and a man said he would adopt the cat right on the spot," Speirs said. "You can't come up with a nicer ending than that."

Engine XYZ: "Command to dispatch, can you give me Truck ABC at this location?"
    ...a few minutes later....
Truck ABC:"Truck ABC is on scene...do you want us to set up the tower to get the cat out of the tree?"
Engine XYZ: "Negative, Truck ABC, we are hitting a hydrant now, set up the tower and get ready to use the master stream"

The very unfunny part of this thing is that Yonkers FD is a very busy FD with an old, crumbling town. They are undermanned, but do an incredible job under difficult circumstances. These guys probably did not need to get involved with this. Although, the comic aspect of this is very intriguing.

Flashback to the movie "O Brother, Where art Thou?"
The scene where George Nelson sees the cows in the field, and takes aim with the tommy gun..

Now insert above article and improvise:

"Cats! I hate Cats!" (whooshing noise of a deck gun...)

    "Oh, George, not the livestock!"

My favorite line from the movie, though, is "'Course it's Pete, look at him!"

    Other faves...

"Well, Pete n' Delmer here's just been baptized and saved. It seems I'm the only one who remains unaffiliated."

"Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity? Two weeks from everywhere!"

    "You stole from my kin!"
"Which was fixin' to betray us!"
"You didn't know that at the time!"
"So I borrowed it until I did know!"
    "That don't make no sense!"

    "Come on, boys! I'm'a R-U-N-N-O-F-T!"

been there and done that. we had one guy that tried to go up a tree and save the cat, cat went nuts and bit him scratched him all to hell. after that we decided inch and three quarters at just enough pressure does the trick better.

If you're going to have cats...at least serve them with fava beans and a nice Chiati [thank you Silence of the Lambs for that line].
