    Default Marion County FR

Looking for info. concerning Marion County Fire&Rescue. I was in contact with their P.I.O. and she stated they would be hiring 35 this year. I was just wondering how their department is, they look like they are in a big transitioning phase right now.

    Appreciate it.

yes we are in a transitional phase. we are hiring next year. about half of those positions will be noncerts and we will send them through ff/emt school. we are finally getting up to proper staffing. however, we plan on opening another 4 or 5 stations within the next few years.

the pay isnt that great probably some of the lowest in the state, especially for a department this size. but slowly i think it will be getting better.

Thanks for the info. 2tone. Too bad about them Gators last night, they didn't look like themselves. As for the low pay, right now i'm not worried about a big paycheck, I just want to work fulltime as a FF/EMT and get some experience. I'll keep checkinig the Marion County site for postings.

they just had a job fair for non certs this past saturday. they will probably post certified positions soon. they just came out with a new deal. ff/emt don't have to become paramedic certified for 5 years.

That's great, I am looking to visit and take a tour of some of the stations and hopefully get to meet some personel. I appreciate the heads up on the posting and medic change.
