Default Fie Prevention Week for Children Ideas???

I was hoping to get some help for ideas on a demonstration or activity for fire prevention week for a group of children in Pre-k up to second grade.

We normally borrow a smoke house from a neighboring district, but it is unavailable this year. Currently we are going to show them our PPE and dress one member out so they see a FF in full gear and know not to be afraid, and then show them the trucks and tools associated with them.

We need a third station, something "smoke escape" related. I've heard of using a suspended blanket to demonstrate the stay low and go concept, but I'd like to make it enjoyable and fun.

Any and all ideas are appreciated!

perhaps an enclosed tent would have the same effect? is there anyway you could rent a mobile home and use that without damaging it?

    best of luck!

Red face I have the same problem

I need ideas. I was thinking renting smoke machines, having a room cleared out so you can do your demonstration and have the alarm ring while smoke is seeping through the door. The thinking cuts off there.. you can add on to that.

    Default Ideas

We use a large bariety of props to teach several different fire safety messages to all ages, if you want to email me I will send you some pics. We have props that can be made rather quickly, and have a great one for crawl low and go. My email is bweil@nocfa.com
