    Default Regional Projects

I've been reading thru the posts on the updates, questions and awards but have only seen one - maybe two hints of regional project awards. Has anyone been involved or heard of any regional projects being funded or rejected?

    Thanks

Default This waiting is killing me

I agree...the waiting is killing me; as I have sizeable regional comms grant awaiting approval.

However I am lucky becuase I have an even larger PSIC grant to keep me distracted

I would tell you to chill out but, I know that will be happening in your neck of the woods soon enough. Well, the curse is now broken too; no snow in Denver!

    Default Say it aint so....

What...No snow in Denver; Vail opens in less than 60 days?

Yes it is starting to feel like hunting weather around here, which is fine with me after enduring Clearwater in August.

You know I am holding out for that Tahoe in March / Heavenly in Feb seminar

I can see snow from where I'm standing. On top of mountains and glaciers here in Valdez AK. Definitely on my list to come back and visit.

Several regionals have been awarded, Round 6 was two of them. And that's all there was awarded that day. Several SCBA regionals have been awarded or are pending that I worked on.

In general what other regionals have you seen successful (or not successful)?

No, was only 31 at night and 55 during the day, no wind just blue skies and sun.

Played hockey for many moons, 20 with no wind is still t-shirt and shorts for me.

I know this subject will get covered in the Chief's class but I am needing a little info now. I know you can do regionals for equipment and radio systems. Can you do a regional for Training monies?
Also how many regionals can you put in for at one time for the same region? Say one for training and one for radios.

    Training (per the PG):

Regional projects are designed to facilitate interoperable communications and efficiency among the participating jurisdictions. As such, the only activities available for application under a regional project are training and equipment acquisition that positively affect interoperability.
    Multiple Regionals (per the PG):

For the 2007 program year, each eligible applicant may submit one application for each of the program areas, i.e., one application for the Vehicle Acquisition program area, one application for Operations and Safety program area, and one application for a regional project. However, if an eligible applicant submits multiple applications in a single program area (for example two regional project applications for which it is a host, or two Operations and Safety applications) we will deem all of the applications in that same program area to be ineligible.
If you did not violate the above it seems that multiple regionals are acceptable as long as they are sent in by different "hosts".

I would defer this to your FPS for an opinion.

Who knows what will happen next year in regards to changes.

Bugle hit it with the last statement, we won't know how many apps will be allowed next year until they hit us with it when the PG comes out.

Basically as long as there is a different host for each app, departments can be involved in as many regionals as possible as long as none ask for the same thing for the same people. So one dept can host an SCBA and then be a participant in 3+ other depts communications, hose, training, etc.
