Meriden is only interviewing the top 50 scores from the written. Those who were in that top level will be interviewing next week.

Crossbro - Do most of the firefighters live in Meriden?

Didn't you read the fine print? It's required!!!!
Seriously though its about a 50/50 split. Firefighters who live in town are called back first though.

From talking with people who got different letters we deduced you had to have a 90% or better combine score - written exam and residency/military/S. Meriden Volly/Meriden Residency points in order to move on to the oral board.

From what I've heard that is correct. You needed to get a 90% or better to get invited to the oral board. I also understand that everyone is on an even playing field again when you go to the boards.

Like most cities and towns they test for candidates and then maintain a list for 1 - 2 years. I can't tell you how many they are planning to hire but I'm pretty sure you'll be looking at 3 sometime around the beginning of they year. It all depends on who decides to retire.

gfd337, I had an 89 with 5 points for FFI, but when I talked to the deputy chief, he said all those points were just for the written, ur final score is just on ur oral interview not the written. Who knows though, like he said they were not hiring as of now, who knows how many they will of this list
