Default California is hiring and lots of openings...

Hey- The state of California is hiring FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDICS and FIRE APPARATUS ENGINEER/PARAMEDICS. The salaries listed to no include the automatic overtime.

I hope someone out here can apply. The state is a good place to work.

    Talking CDF in North Region

I recieved a letter of inquirey today from CDF. It mentions San Mateo, Sonoma and Butte. I have to check the ones I am interested in and send it back by Dec 12. It is for a FF2 fulltime LT, not to exceed 12 months.

I am already a fulltime FF in CA, but would like to work for CDF. I would have to commute from Orange County, so I would actually like to get in with a southern unit. Any info you might have regarding the 3 areas mentioned in the first paragraph would be a huge help. I am not sure they will even call me, but if they do I want to be prepared to give them my answer.

By the way, my current job allows me to leave for 12 months and they have to hold my position so I can come back to it. Thus, trying out a new job is of little risk to me.

    Thanks for your help,

    Kev

The test for FF2 and FAE is already closed. The packets were sent out and have to be returned by Jan 18th. The FF1 is still open. If you have your medic, I believe the test is open continuous for FF2 and FAE.

    Unhappy

So it kinda sucks you can only apply to the northern departments if you cant deliver it personally. Is every department listed on there that the application is sent to, or are there a few big cities? Thanks

Here are the 20 largest cities in California. All have their own fire department. Riverside County contracts the most with Cal Fire. Moreno valley is their largest. California has several cities over 100,000 as well. If that is your interest, I would go online and look at the cities you may be interested in, or the area. California has 37,700,000 people.

There are several large fire districts or county departments as well. Cal fire has contracts with cities, lots of career opportunities. The cities below are not part of Cal fire..

    Rank: City: Population: County:
1 Los Angeles 4,018,080 Los Angeles
2 San Diego 1,256,509 San Diego
3 San Jose 929,936 Santa Clara
4 San Francisco 808,844 San Francisco
5 Long Beach 492,912 Los Angeles
    6 Fresno 481,035 Fresno
    7 Sacramento 467,343 Sacramento
    8 Oakland 415,492 Alameda
    9 Santa Ana 353,428 Orange
    10 Anaheim 345,556 Orange
