    Default Promotional Exam Requirements

I am curious as to what other career departments in the State of Florida require to sit for Company Officer Promotional Exams.
    As far as:
    *Name of Department
    *Number of years with department
*Degree - 2 or 4 year Fire science, EMS, or other
*Certifications - Paramedic, Driver, Company Officer, Instructor, etc.
*And what type of testing - written, scenario, physical agility, assessment center, or combination.
    Thanks

    Default

min 3 years as a FF to test for engineer, min. 3 years as engineer to test for Lt. so min 6 years to test for Lt.

min. 2yr degree or be a paramedic

must be state certified fire officer

all other certs. are bonus points (instructor etc.), and senority earns bonus points

    4yr degree is bonus points

test: written, practical, chief's interview and panel interview

I think that covers it all.

Two years as an engineer to sit for Lieutenants test..........one year to sit for engineers test so that's a three year minimum.

    No degree requirement!

Must have Fire Officer One certification

Testing is discussed in Union Contract.
    - Examination shall be competitive
    - Examination shall be be of such character as to fairly determine the qualifications, fitness, and ability of applicants to perform the duties of the person to which appointment is being made.

    Those are the basics........

Generally speaking the department has used a third party testing group for the last 12 years.
