Ok, So my husband is in Recruit training now. He graduates in December and I have heard from some of the Captains and other firefighters that the families usually get graduation gifts. I planned on getting him one anyway but the Captains I spoke with said the best gift would be a gear bag. I have looked online and there are TONS of gear bags! There are turnout gear bags, regular duffle bags, overnight bags, EMS bags.....TONS! Some are expensive and some are cheap. I am so lost on which kind of bag to get! Help me please!

I am only an aspiring firefighter, but seeing that you have no responses yet I'll give my input. I would say to get advice from another current firefighter in the dept. If you dont know any give the chief a quick call and see if he has anyy suggestions. If that is not possible just get him a basic quality gear bag... try looking for reviews done that are not on the site your buying it from

Another Great Graduation Gift Idea
Firefighters by nature want to be ready at all times for all Emergencies, so any Firefighter worth his salt loves to carry a MultiTool. When I first came on.... Gerbers or Leatherman were the hot items.
Today, I suggest a more useful tool: one of the new Pocket-Tools at www.Pocket-Tool.com. The Mod 5 is popular in the East, Mod 2 is popular in the West and Mod 1 is handy everywhere.

Fireman stuff would be better which includes bags and all needed materials that can be used to protect fires.
