The latest rumor is that 17 will be starting the academy on October 16. Anyone hear anything different?

I heard the same the 17 left but haven't heard anything about a start date. Also heard the possibility of trying to get the first class size back up to the original 25. Who knows anymore.

Class will definetly not start on Oct. 16th, word is that they will now try to call additional candidates to get 25. Many other things going on in the department besides hiring new guys, no one really cares when that gets done.

There is no set start date for the academy at this time. One of our instructor's at the Recruit School is on Hartford and is being detailed to the Division of Training for the academy. As of right now, there is no start date and the count is still only 20 people. I was told from one of my friends who is a Captain, there are 5 more people that are "reserves" and they are trying to get them added to this academy. Also, they are waiting for the Deputy Chief in charge of training to get back from Iraq. There is rumor that he might retire when he returns. In addition to that, there is still 2 Deputy Chief's positions that need to be filled. I was just told the other day that the number of vacancies on the job is in the 90's and as you know if you're on the list, there is less than 100 people on the list and it's good for another 2 years. Don't lose hope.

I talked to City personel who told me that there is no more requirement that you live in the city. That was required only to apply. Anyone have anymore info on this or has anyone else moved out of the city.

I called HR today, I asked if the list was certified and all the woman could tell me was that she sent a list of 35 guys over months ago and it was at a standstill due to background checks. Now im confused as hell cause i know on the 22nd Hartford academy starts with 20 guys. I dont think HR has ANY idea what is going on, in my opinion.
