As an explorer, do any of you have your First Responder certification?

Because I'm trying to decide if it is worth it to spend money to get my First Responder.

I was never allowed as a Junior. Our province states you must be 19 years of age to get your First Responder cert.
If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

I am going to take the EMT-b class once I graduate high school and possibly join tri-med or a company like that. Dose that count as an answer? Oh I have a first aid card?

t0asty that dosen't really count because you have to be 18 to get your
emt-b. Thats why i'm trying to get my First Responder because i'm only 15.
    But thinks for trying.

Do you classify EMT as like PCP?

My province does not have EMT but First Responder, then Basic Paramedic or PCP and it goes up from there. Now you can go to College and get a PCP course with a high school diploma. So if your one of the lucky ones who graduates at 17 or 18 you can go and become a Paramedic.

For MFR, you can be whatever age St.John Ambulance or Red Cross states but to be certified as a normal civilian. To be a First Responder and get your Provincial EHS tag for the Fire Dept they require you to be 19. If I'm not mistaken it's mostly for insurance reasons.

In my state (North Carolina), you can take the course at whatever age you want (16+) as long as you have a stack of waivers signed, but you can't get your certification until you turn 18.

indiana says that you can receive your first responder at 16, and emt-b or paramedic at 18. i am seriously looking into taking emt-b since my fd will be running able assist(severe stuff only) starting jan. 1.

I don't have a First Responder Certification per se, but I am certified in Adult, Infant, and Child CPR (American Red Cross Cert), and a First Aid Certification.
In addition, my experience as a Fire Explorer can help me in emergency

I am proud to say that two of our explorers are EMT-B certified and many are starting a first responder course next month. We have 15 kids and it is rare to find that they are so willing to learn so that they can help. It is amazing to see what kids can do when they are given the chance.

I am 17 and I was certified as an EMT-B in NJ two months ago. In NJ, you have to be 16 to take the 120-hour course, and once you pass, you receive a "provisional" certification. When you turn 18, as long as you keep your certification active by maintaining your CEUs, you'll receive a new card that doesn't have the "provisional" label.

As for First Responder, I was certified with the American Red Cross Emergency Response course just about a year ago, and that was a 40-hour course. I'm not sure if there's an age requirement to obtain that certification, but I was 16 when I was certified. You also need to have CPR/AED Professional Rescuer/Healthcare Provider level from either the AHA or the ARC.

Of course. Take it so you can learn a lot of things...it will help you later if you decide to become an EMT or Firefighter
