Thumbs down The decline of the forums..........

I am really over the immature BS, the attacking each other, the know it all newbies and explorers, and the lack of Brotherhood.

I enjoy my FH magazine, memberzone subscription, and now, Firehouse Central. I have learned much, shared my knowlage, and had fun. However, ther e is too much idiocy, and we are loosing good posters.

I spent some time away, while at FH Central, and, to be honest, didn't really miss anything.

From now on, I will be focusing much more time to the "other" site, www.iacoj.com

If you want the fun, and learning of the fh.com forums, without the shenninagans of it, give it a whirl.

I feel the same way. I took the summer off from FH, but still I came back. Sort of like watching a train wreck.

The general demeanor of the forums has taken a change for the worse over the past couple of years. Unfortunately, this seems to be a reflection of our society as a whole. Of course, the anonymous nature of these (and other forums) encourage rude and insulting behavior. If I want flame wars, I'll spend time on fark.com.

It seems my ignore list gets bigger every week and it is not because I disagree with someone. The constant stream of know-it-alls and bickering over stuff that doesn't belong on a firefighters forum is disheartening in the least.

I'm not a card carrying member of the spelling police, but the atrocious spelling and grammar that shows up in some posts is disturbing, and it is not only from juniors and explorers. I'm not talking about a missed letter or two or a missing word in a sentence, but posts that leave the reader saying WTF did I just read?

IACOJ is a great forum that is head and shoulders above FH.com.

I'll probably (not proly ) hang around here; there are some good posts on this forum from some very knowledgeable people. However the junk posts will eventually take over and then I'm, and most likely others, will be out of here.

This post probably belongs on that "let's be honest..." thread, but I've spent entirely too much time on this forum just today.
And I hear you with that to-do list adding up. I'll have to check this other one out. I've tried to interject some things that are useful, but admittedly enjoy the idiotic posts that come up every now and then and end up throwing in my $.01 eventually.

We've definitely been losing a lot of quality posters here too, one I can think of offhand is E229Lt who left for the very reasons stated in the preceding posts.

Uh oh. Just took a quick look at www.iacoj.com, not sure if I qualify for "crusty".
So does this post count as Step 1?

Crusty is an attitude, not time in grade.

    It was 229, not 329.

Actually Sapphyr, I find a lot of your posts to be right on target. Especially for someone who is from outside the industry.

Well what I do know is just plain common sense stuff, since I know zip nil nada about the fire service. But sadly, there are some on here who are actual firemen, and even I can tell when they are full of it
