    Saw?

Congrats guys. Just remember that you are new and you are there to learn. Keep your mouth shut and listen to every little thing that everyone says and you will do fine. If you don't know something or want to know something, ask don't guess. You aren't expected to know very much when you are brand new.

    Good luck.

No no no, he did the first 1.2 yrs three times.

Remember that saying about having "20 years experience" vs having "the first year's experience twenty times"???
My opinions might coincide with someone of importance's POV... I wouldn't know, since I never bothered to ask. My policy is: "Don't ask, don't care."

Huh? Explorer's are part of the Boy Scouts. You don't need to be "accepted", you just join. FWIW, an Explorer post may be sponsored by a FD but membership in the Post isn't membership in the FD itself.

If there was a waiting list for the post... Then I could see "being accepted." Smaller departments may only have the resources to support so many Explorers... Like mine and RFRD's post. We have use of enough turnouts and helmets to have 15 members.

Our post has about 30 members, and about 7 or 8 sets of gear, no one gets their own, one person does an evolution, removes his gear and gives it to the next person in line. It works well for us, but we don't do a very large amount of drilling.

Edit to add-Good luck to the people who just joined

Yeah... We're pretty lucky to have all we have. Everyone has their own turnouts to keep while on the post (take home with them) The regular Explorers have Ben 2 helmets, the officers have Ben 2 Plus' excluding me because of a long story (I ended up having to buy the post a 1044 that I use)... We have two departments that are extremely good to us... We just passed our Ride-Along policy for both departments (even though a few of us already rode along before... it's now official) We drill every Wednesday (in exception of the 5th Wednesday of the month and Holiday weeks) with the first Wednesday of the month being a business meeting.

Good luck to the people who are joining.

He may of thought like I did when I said I was excepted. I had to fill out paper work and then wait for awhile and then they contacted you and did an interview and then let you know. I could be wrong though...I also see where you are coming from. Oh Well
