Hello From An Aspiring Firefighter

I love this site! I just joined today, but I've been lurking for a while now.

I've always wanted to be a firefighter since I was little. I joined the U.S. Air Force after high school with hopes of becoming a firefighter. Unfortunately, Uncle Sam needed me as a combat communicator.

It was hard for me to separate after 6 years, but my heart was set on becoming a firefighter. I'm now in Vacaville, CA and will be attending Solano Community College to attend the Fire Academy, as well as pursue my AS in Fire Technology.

I hope to learn from the many veterans, as well as other students in similar situations.

I'm a little overwhelmed about everything I have to do. I'm going the Firefighter and Paramedic route. But, I'm slowly figuring out everything I have to do, and classes I have to take.

I never realized just how much work and education was needed and available for the fire service. I'm excited to get started.

I agree Im in the same boat, there is a TON of education involved but its a well earned and well rewarded career.. nay.. a lifestyle!
