    Default Source for Door Gauges

I'm looking for a commerical source for a go/no go gauge for Fire Door gaps. We had a local machine shop make up a set out of billet aluminum, but was advided to use a commercail gauge rather then a "home made" gauge for liability reasons.

Whose advice? A competent machine shop should be able to make an appropriate gauge to tighter tolerances than anything mass produced. If there's really an issue, why not have an independent lab certify the one you've got?

Our Attorney. The gauge started as an AutoCAD file that ran a CNC milling machine. I'm satisifed that it's accurate, just really have no way to prove it, short of a lab test every year.

Gotta love attorneys. They do things the most difficult and expensive way they can find. As long as your homebrew guage is well within specs, nothing can go wrong. Tell him to fly a kite
