Default FDNY is what I want

Here's my story...I reside from Rockland, New York. I am currently 6 months into my 4 year Air Force enlistment. I took the FDNY test in Jan 07, couple of months before I left. I scored a 90 + the 5 points for going military. My questions are...

    1) I haven't got anything from the FDNY back at my home in New York telling me anything. Is the test still being protested?

    2) With 4 years in the military, and at minimum of an associates degree, what are my chances or being hired for the FDNY when I get back? I will be 23 years old when I get out.

I was AF w/ a guy who took his test right before he went in for 4 years. He starts the next academy in Jan ( i think thats the timeframe ). Just shows ya how long it can take but it worked out real well for him.

My son starts in the Jan 08' academy as well. Could you send a private message...maybe his contact info, Perhaps the two could look into housing etc..or commuting. He is looking into housing and transportation right now...currently lives in California. Thanks.
