I am freshman in college working toward my degree in fire protection but wanting to get trained as early as I can. Several questions here:
1) My best 2 options I see is take online classes while at college then doing hands on work over summer, or doing it all over summer if it is possible. Which one is best in terms of getting hired, convience, and learned information?
2) Getting experience just through summer, small town department be the best? volunteer? (does it require training?) I am confused a little as volunteer fire. I realize it is hard to get 2 month firefighting job and most departments require 30+ hours of college hours
3)If anyone knows from Dallas area that would hire like this after another year in college, please reply.
4)Should I also be trained as EMT?
Thanks for any information posted.
