It's actually not the official day (November 7th was, actually) but this weekend we celebrate 125 years of the Joplin FD. A little history on the department form the local paper.

It made me wonder, how many guys know the history behind their FD? The article only touches on the history of JFD. Chief Perkins (mentioned in the article) did a powerpoint for us that was very good and very informative. I'm going to try to do some research on my vollie department and see what I can find out.
