Post Fire Explorer vs Fire Cadet?

    Hey everybody!

I've been an explorer for a couple years and my post is kinda dull I have seen/heard of something called fire cadets? Is this just an entry level FF or a program a 16 y/o could join?

    BTW I'm from Texas...

I think it may be the same thing just different names. I wondered that too.

"Fire Explorer" groups are part of the Boys Scouts' "Learning for Life" program sponsored by a local fire organization.

A "Fire Cadet" could be just about anything. An Explorer group might call themselves "Fire Cadets," or; "Fire Cadets" could be a locally organized group similar to the Explorers but not affiliated with the Boy Scouts, or; it could be the name given to firefighter recruits in a training academy, or; whatever...

    Default same diff.

Cadets --- Explorers, same thing. Untrained and usually unpaid. At our dept, the cadet program is for HS students whether 18 or not. After 18, and graduated, you move to apprentice if not trained yet, or probie if trained.
