    Thumbs up Fire I & II Examination

    WELL ITS DONE! {OK - ALMOST done}

    12 fire Department Volunteers from around Fairfax County sat and wrote a 150 question Fire I and II exam last night and all participants PASSED!

    We all passed our Fire II Skills testing this past weekend, and the written exam last night. We still have 4 more {working} class days and two days of safety briefings left, for doing the Live Fire portion, and Incident Simulations, to be conducted over the next two weekends. One of the Live Fire days will be with an acquired structure somewhere in Vienna. However to all intentents and purposes, we have completed 6 months of intense training.

    I would like to pass a heartfelt and very deep THANK YOU to those of you here that I talked with or wrote to, who provided regular moral support. Your support and encouragement was very important and very much appreciated.

    Congratulations Rick. I knew you could do it. I know you worked hard for this and sacrificed a lot.

    I am so happy for you.

    WOOOHOOOOO!! Only 2 more exercise days left and we will be DONE!

    We just did our live fire burns, in both the burn building and an acquired structure. The house burn yesterday went awesome. The Ignition Teams did a great job and of course so did the students! heehheeheehe.

    I don't have many photos to post of it, because they are not available, however here are one or two. Other than the group shot, I can neither confirm nor deny if I am in any of the others.

    Damn, I wish I could get in on a live burn that only had 12 people. Congrats on your accomplishment's bro.

    I forget the exact number of hours, but 117 rings a bell. We started class on 31 July and it will end on 16 December, running Saturday and Sundays all day, with evenings, Tuesday and Thursday from 7 pm till 11 pm (or later?). Its pretty much the same as what the career guys do, except that we cram it all in on weekends heeheheeee.

    And Jonny, we are all a lot thinner than when we started, but I dont think it has much to do with our "salad bowls" ehehheeee. We are supposed to get black leathers on graduation... but that is under rumour review right now.

    We did get some air time on Channel 5 news, but I have not seen the broadcast, so dont know how much we really got. And ya, we had 3 guys from 106 working as RIT I think.
