Still seems way high for an entry level custom cab engine.
What letters are needed to spell Price? Pierce. :p
Why the 1000 gallon tank if your going to be using CAFS? Why not a 500?

We had discussions with ALF,Seagrave,and Ahrens Fox. ALF and Seagrave were over our budget amount ($450,000.00) before we added the CAFS, generator and lights, LED lights. Ahrens Fox was going to be in the running, but a paperwork snafu kept them from bidding. So, I'll take a Contender with CAFS, good lighting and equipment to boot, rather than just another class A pumper without.
That price seems extremely high for a Pierce Custom Contender. I have helped with a few local departments who chose to buy from the contender line and neither one was anything close. Now the CAFS system is a very expensive option along the lines of $30k but even with that taken out of your price seems extremely high. Even with the options you have listed the way I got it figured up that truck should have cost around $280K. Thats is going by some of the option sheets with prices that I have laying around...............
A comparison with our specifications to a Velocity/Impel was around $540,000;
An Arrow XT was $525,000 and both of those prices were without the Darley portable 500 gpm at 150 psi pump that is in the catalog for almost $17,000.00
We didnt feel a need to have a drivetrain that would do 60 miles per hour, with our response area all local roadways, with the highest speed limit of 50 mph.
How much more was the 200cfm Compressor?
also, why did you get the 500gpm portable pump? I have see these on tankers, but not on a pumper.
The price does seem a little high, but if you got other bids and they were all higher then maybe not. The Contender is somewhat pre-engineered.
pump is for water supply from our lakes, usually in the backyards not accessable by apparatus.
The Pierce Contender price is a little on the steep side, Fire & Safety LLC will provide very good service after the sale. Good luck with your new pumper, keep us updated on the building of the apparatus down in " Florida " !.....
PROPERLY equipped Cafs will be closer to $50K.1000 gal of water is a GOOD idea.With Cafs, that can get stretched quite a ways.Look at the TOTAL package before declaring the price is way high.I'm not particularly a Pierce fan,but the add on list for this vehicle will add a pretty good $ to the end price.Who's pump and cafs? Imperial 1200 is from Seats 911, the cloth/ballistic covering that will last.
We tried to keep costs down our Township directed us to get the Q2b after we deleted it from the apparatus.
Same goes with the window motors, High maintenance item on current apparatus...window regulators, and cranks.
and still under budget..
Yup yup yup....We spec'd the same thing, we even went so far as to insert in our spec "vinyl seating and vinyl cab interior coverings are NOT acceptable." Look at our 89 Duplex/Quality.....A local vinyl interior shop has made megabux off of us on that thing.......Quote:
