I am looking to setup a live scanner feed and put it on my website. I have a computer with broadband internet and a bearcat scanner, the rest is a mystery to me. Can anyone give me some direction?

I'm working on a similar project here. Have you tried Winamp? http://www.winamp.com
The server software is free. You will can host the stream yourself or use a company that provides the service. This can range from free to $100's per month depending on bandwidth and listeners.-------------------

as far as streaming it to your website, make sure you have enough transfer allowed so you do not run over most websites only allow x amount of transfer per month....
another options is http://www.firefeeds.com/host.html
they host scanners from all over, last time I knew if you host a scanner you get full access to the site for free

I use Windows Media Encoder to host ours. Runs in the background and seems to a better way to go than to use the Shoutcast servers on winamp. They're both free to use. Ours in currently down however, b/c I'm in the process of remodeling my office and haven't set everything back up.
2160 is right though, while I haven't used firefeeds myself, they seem to know what they're doin!
email me if you wanna know more about how I did ours. use the contact form on the website link below.DJ
