American Fork warehouses
Two old warehouses located north of the historic Star Mill, 100 E. 600 North in American Fork, burned down Wednesday night. No one was injured but the buildings and the antiques stored inside them are gone.
The mill itself, which is now used to sell antiques, was spared.
Firefighters were at the American Fork Fire Department's annual Christmas party at Northampton House when they got the call at about 7:10 p.m.
"We had a pretty good response time," said American Fork fire chief Jay Christensen.
Loan Peak Fire District firefighters responded to the blaze as well.
Police blocked off 100 East for approximately three hours as firefighters fought the flames, which fully engulfed the buildings. The fire was contained by 9:30 p.m. but Christensen said he expected to be there through the night making sure the fire is out for good.
The historic mill is the site of many community gatherings, including a holiday celebration, which was held on Saturday.
Christensen said there is no reason to believe the fire was suspicious but a state fire marshal had been called to investigate.
