    Default Need fire service catch phrases

    Like any industry the fire service has many sayings, jargon, and catch phrases unique to our line of work.

    I need help collating a list of catch phrases. Serious, humorous, etc...all are welcomed. Thanks!

    On a more serious note..........

    We saw this on a demo truck at a local fire school and decided to put it on our new 2007 Road Rescue medic unit.

    Try before you pry

    If in doubt tone it out

    If in doubt lay it out

    Use one hand for the fire service and one hand for yourself

    Take care of your equipment and your equipment will take care of you.

    When I was a Truckie my favorite was;
    -Recall the Engine, we got it with a can.

    Now that I am on an Engine again it would be;
    -Quiet, don't wake the truck.

    Other favorites;
    -We beat you in again, quit whining and lay us a line.
    -First in to your first due.
    -Urban renewal.

    OOOOOOOOOO if I ever had a medic say this to me, I would immediately reply with "And if I had scored 10 points lower on my civil service exam, I could have been a paramedic!"
