    Default Free Smoke Detectors?

By any chance is there any companies that donate free smoke detectors to volunteer departments?

I would start by checking with your state fire marshal and maybe even some of the insurance companies. State Farm is big in a lot of things, not sure about this though.

Fir companies in New Jersey get smoke detectors for free from the state. They are top of the line detectors, but they work and do the job. Our fire company donates them to the elderly community whenever we respond to a call with a faulty detector or dead batteries. It gives us good pr.

Right from the front page of www.rossfordfire.com pretty much explains itself......

December 2007- The Rossford Fire & Rescue Department is proud to announce a free smoke detector program. Using donated funds from the Fraternal Order of Eagles Rossford Aerie #2322 the department was able to purchase 350 smoke detectors. If you need a smoke detector stop by the station from 8a-4p any day of the week. If you are unable to get to the station please call the Chief's office @ 419 666 0210 extension #30.

ACE Hardware donates them to us here in Colorado. Try them if you have one around you.

That doesn't really help, unless your department is willing to share those detectors with his department.
