Does anyone know what the acronym adult for line selection stand for. I believed coined by ray hoff from chicago.

Chief John Newell taught me the ADULTS method for 2-1/2" handline selection.
A-Advanced fire conditions
D-Defensive operations
U-Unknown fire conditions (involvement/size of fire)
L-Large uncompartmented areas (large open areas)
T-Tons of water needed (commercial fires)
S-Standpipe operations

FDNY used it and was talked much by "Sir" FF Andrew Fredricks in his classes and videos. I believe it was an FDNY made acronym for their promotional test

I don't want to hear anything about a truckie knowing some engine crap. I spent a couple years on one before I saw the light.
