Info on Sunny Point's FD

I live in Wilmington and was interested in Sunny Point. Just was wondering about the likes or dislikes. Are there any openings?

For openings check usajobs.com. We should be posting a few more (2-5 depending on paperwork) in the next few months. It seems that most of the people we hire re from Wilmington or the county so you do stand a chance. YOu will have to have at a minimum FF I&II, DO pumps, EMT and your tech will really help you out. Above that we are working on a EMT-I program that will raise us another pay level so if you had it before getting hired that would help. Military preference is also another bonus and most that have been hired in the last few years have had it. As far as working here it is exactly like every other fire department. There are good things and people and bad things and people. how you will like it depends on how you deal with these things. Me personaly I love it and when I got hired I was planning on moving out west very soon but have stayed because it is a great department. We also start everyone out at a GS-07 rate where most other departments start out at GS-05 so it is quite a big pay difference. I think we are making about twice what wilmington is paying right now for a brand new firefighter. Any more questions drop me a e-mail
