Unfortunately I've also heard from numerous sources that jan 09 anticipated 300+ class now will be in the lower 200s, and future class sizes will probably be around the same or possibly smaller. Not good for me. 39xx

No offense to the people who posted these things because im sure they did it just to keep everyone on the thread informed, its just ive heard so many rumors about this test it is unbelievable(i.e right after we all took the test they were supposedly throwing it all out). Let me tell you something about that PT Instructor; if he were to lose his arms and legs he'd use his teeth to drag himself to the fireground. And I'd follow him in without even a second thought.

The January 09 is already in the budget as per CID so as of now the class is still on.

Very true also, talking to different friends on the job i've heard everything from freeze after Jan, to there are 3 more classes budgeted.

2. For anyone who's ever had a broken bone and/or surgery. I need to see their orthopedic to get my wrist checked out (broke it in 2004 and have a screw in it, but 100% back to full strength and rom). Did you need to get a sign off paper from the doctor that performed your surgery or is that not needed? The reason why I ask is because the doctor that did my surgery retired already.

It would probably be in your best interest to get a hold of your former doctor and have him write up a summary letter for you to bring to the medical office when you go back stating that the wrist is 100% and that it would not hamper you in performing strenuous firefighting duties. AND that he feels that it is not necessary for the hardware to come out in order to do so.

The official FDNY site hasn't been updated. The last class of exam 2043 was jan 08. 302 were appointed, totaling 2500+ for the entire list and the last list number they reached was in the 5670s

Where did you get that info from?
I am going by the fdnys official site.

"The FDNY is appointing from Firefighter List #2043, which was established on May 5, 2004. To date, we have appointed 2242 eligibles from Firefighter List #2043; 302 eligibles entered the August 5, 2007 class. We reached List #4825.5."

So if that last class appointed the302 eligibles, then yes they hired about 2500

if i were a gambling man id say this list will hit around 4000. with the economy and all other things going on. i originally thought it would hit like 8000.

Hey FDNYFREAK it's kind of hard to get an answer here cause the guys that are called are excited and trying to get there own answers to a lot more questions than just you and I have.

I'm new to but a have a few friends on the job. Guys like you and I are a little later on the list i'm in the 3600's. But i spoke to someone at the recruitment center and they said for the first call which was in august they needed about 200 fireman and ened up callin up to number 845 on the list (not including promotions) so now they're calling up to 2112 on the list to get a possible 300 guys (due to guys not answering, putting the test off, or just not passing the physical)

So as it stands you and I aren't going to get an investigator until this june and hopefully we'll be in by January of 09. Hope i could help. AND ANYONE WITH A BETTER UNDERSTANDING THAN WHAT I'VE JUST WROTE PLEASE CHIME IN!!!

Thats not good for me either im in the 5100's I pray that I get called but I think they will definately go to the high 5000's at least I mean guys are always retiring or getting promoted or finding higher paying careers and what not so not to worry

i too think this list will reach at least 5500...the FDNY has too much invested in this test..you hear about budget cuts but spent millions on recruitment so it wouldnt make sense to me

Hey I spoke with my investigator today, to see if there was anything else that was needed for my file. She said that she had everything, told me to keep running and we will be hearing something in December.
