An original of the lease wasnt req'd. Just the two pieces of "proof." The originals they want are on the letter you get. I dont have it in front of me at the moment, but I recall it being the birth certificate, HS diploma and drivers license. The guy looked at mine, and scribbled an 'OK' on the copies. He did collect a pair of DMV abstracts too...

Just dont bring a lot of extra 'just in case' stuff. If they never asked for something, your cluttering your own process. Its a good day to be organized.

And youre welcome guys, glad I could help.

Quick question about the residency proof:

I was told that bills printed from an online account with you address will not suffice. The bills need to be mailed to your address.

    Can anyone confirm this?

I think everything I do is online - not sure if anyone else is in the same boat.

    Thanks in advance

I'm in that boat, too. I do everything online and have for years. However, I have a few months of mailed ones that are exactly the same (well, except the WaMu logo is in color) as the PDFs I printed out from the internet, so I don't know what the difference is unless they want them unopened in the envelopes that they came in.

I can order mailed paper statements, but they're $5 a statement for each month. I'll spend the $60 in a heartbeat for the job, but it doesn't make sense if I can print the exact same thing off the computer.

I brought in printed cc statements from online and they took that as proof of residency. Didnt question it at all.

My post took a few days to get posted up so I am posting the question again to hope to get a answer. Sorry about reposting. I was reading and saw that as a step to getting hired we have to take a polygraph.(I don't know if this is out of NY or what but I read it somewhere on this site) but if it is I was wondering if anyone knew all the steps we have to take before getting hired and if in fact taking a polygraph was one or not because I thought it was just the hand in the paper work day, the psych, the cpat, and the medical.

hey fellas, I had a question about the medical part of the hiring process before the academy. If you have asthma, does that DQ you from the hiring process? Are you unable to be hired by the FDNY if you have had asthma previously in your life? thanks for the reply.

Anyone know if the fdny football team still runs the physical prep classes at Floyd Bennet Field?

    interesting report I came accross [url]http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache:reqwSuelKbkJ:ww w.nyccouncil.info/issues/report_act.cfm%3Fmtfile%3DT200 5-0046+fdny+fraternal+groups&hl= en&ct=clnk&cd=10&gl=us[/url

Also, does anyone on here belong to a long island volunteer dept? Anyone know if any of them give the cpat or cpat courses. And finally does anyone have any information about volunteer companies that are in nyc, I can't find any information on them.

    Thanks

I cant answer this with 100% certainty but a buddy of mine has asthma who is on the job, it was bad when we were kids.

People have told me when it comes to investigators and medical answer the questions they ask you 100% honestly but do not volunteer any info they don't ask for.

    Default Promotion List

Does anyone know how many people are on the EMS promotion list?
Second will the FDNY put all those people in the first class or split them up?
    Any info thanks

I thought a previous poster said there were ~215(?) on promo, but only 150 would be taken in the first class.

Just regurgitating hearsay, so don't quote me on it.

Someone asked the question about the ems promotionals, at the cpat info session at the rock, and the lt from the fitness unit said that there was only going to be 150 in the first class, i think he was implying that they were limiting it to that number (half the class).

Not yet man. I check the mailbox when I get home at night, but otherwise dont give it much thought. Seems to be working for me.

Regarding the amount of promos though... and this is purely my opinion... that could get rrreal ugly. Not everyone is gonna hack it through the medical. And definitely not the 1st day run. I dont even count the cpat as an obstacle anymore...

The kicker is going to be the reality check, in that not having to do tour 1 medical calls because you "gonna be on the Truck" is equivalent to "sleeping through the night and getting PAID."

Im suddenly too nauseated to finish the story... my apologies.

    Default SS statement QUESTION

Hello all little info to the people going for their interviews. I found out today that a SS earning statement is not what SS mails you every few years. About half the guys in my interview session made this mistake because it does say earning statment in the booklet.
You have to go to a SS office and get one. It tells every job you ever had on the books. It cost 5 dollers a year check or money order no cash or cards. Like Said previously they were pretty lax with stuff durring this interview. They had a copy machine for you to use, notery, and they even let guys leave to get money orders from the place down the street. They didnt seem to get angry if you missed something or did not have it. A bunch of people came in late and that kind of struck a chord with them. I'm not talking 5 min like 20 min and you could tell the guy was getting anoyed and he brought it up about promptness. Be early!!! If you want to get out as fast as posable sit in the front row left side of the room only. They have two sets of seats one near the door and one near the window. Sit in the set near the window (left side) as close to the front as you can. This will get you up to the interviewer faster and up to get your prints and when your done with that your free to leave!

Here is a problem I ran into today about my earning statement.
The FDNY says they want it from 2003-2007. When I went in I brought a $25money order and told the lady I needed it from 2003-2007 (5 years) and she said it wont go to 2007 because you have not yet filed your taxes. HUMMM I thought so I got the statement from 2002-2006 because I had no choice I had a money order for $25 and she could not give me change. Anyone else have this problem? I already had my interview so need to mail this in and dont want any problem

When they ask if you have asthma say NO! DO not say you use an inhaler. They dont look through your past medical records. Now if you have a problem with your lungs on the blow test, you might get disqualified, but they only know what you tell them believe me. I went through the same type of anxiety about questions like this a couple years ago It seems like they will know everything about you, they don't know s**t. Its smoke and mirrors boys.

they give you the print out right then and there. It does take some time to get you have to wait in line. It took me about 45 min to an hour of waiting till I got to get to a worker. May be less in other places but seemed like I went at a bad time. Hope that helps!

the moderators need to get their act together on this site, or pass off being a moderator to someone who already has their act together. the few times i have posted info or questions, it has taken several days to show up (if ever). this is completely counterproductive, and i suspect others as frustrated as i have been are going elsewhere to discuss issues.
