    Issues that came up:

-Dont sign the back of the money order. In fact, dont even write on it until they tell you what to write.

    -Everyone (almost) wore a suit.

-Dont forget anything. But if you do, theres a copy machine and a Notary Public present. Not too much ball breaking for utilizing either, at this point.

-Yes, they really do want to see 'originals.'

-Have breakfast; I was there six hours. No lunch breaks.

-Factor in a few extra minutes in case the guy running your train happens to be the same trapped-in-slow-motion gent operating 4-line today, so you dont have to needlessly, and silently, flip out in your own head like I did this morning.

-The worst part of the day is the time it takes, and thats just a necessary evil.

Really not a stressful event guys, so dont lose sleep over it. You get like a month to put it together and theres no surprises.
    Keep us informed!

It's definitely awesome to hear that they're kickin butt in the first couple weeks to weed out the folks that can't hack it. But, I am surprised they are tough on the class that is going through now, as they are off the old hiring list and process. Although, I understand that, since the physical test for that batch was quite a few years ago, perhaps many of the people have gotten out of shape since then.
All probies have to do the 4 pull-ups, 30 push-ups, and 30 sit-ups straight? or do you get a break btw them? The 4 pull-ups & 30 sit-ups, will be easy but the 30 push ups without stopping might be kinda hard .... Please let me know.

Anyone know of any good deals for a weight vest? Those things are expensive! I'm going to start using the stepmill instead of just running all the time. My list is 17## so I figure I've got until at least the summer time before I get called for that, plenty of time just better start now.

Good luck to everyone who has started the process and keep us informed as you go along.
List # 17## YOu must of got a 98 or a 99 with one was it?

6'3" and 180 means you're pretty skinny. You don't get taken off the list immediately from what the past has shown. If you fail, you go back 30 days later to try again. If you fail that you either then loose your shot or have to pay to goto a specialist and get cleared. If you prepare you'll be alright. Walk up stairs or use a stepmill and work up to 7-10mins w/50lbs and you'll be good. Also start running long slow runs of 3 or more miles. That should square you away. Good luck bro.

    Default Exam# 6019

    From the FDNY website........

"The first candidates called to the physical test were those who appeared on the list with list numbers 1 through 1207 as of November 16, 2007, the date the list was made public."

I read in a previous post (timpala--pg. 25) that the FDNY called an additional 200 list numbers. Does this mean that they called upto 1407 for the physical testing? Can anyone confirm this? I am list # 18**

Yeah mike, if you fail a portion of the physical, and then fail it again, and then fail it at a specialist...I'd say it's a good chance you're gonna get taken off the list.

But no worries man, there is nothing unbeatable here. If you're worried about the step test, start training like a madman.

Christ, im getting LASEK next week just to make sure i dont get disqualified!

We're all nutjobs. Never in the history of the world have dudes been so anxious to run into a burning building.

I had to reschedule my investigation packet turn in to tomorrow, because of some family issues.(should have been almost 2 weeks ago) So, I won't be going through the med/psych anytime real soon I think. My first run through the cpat I got 8:09 and was pretty pleased with that time. I wasn't able to go last class, I guess I'll see how I do this weekend.

How do you prove that you were working full time six months do you need to save all your pay stubs showing you did 40 hours or more?

Do you mean like fail as in any other part? I think there are second chances for most other parts it just delays what class you enter. Is there a part you are worried about? From what the past has shown on the forum, it's all case by case.

well i was reading that one guy said he went in with 16 people and i think he said 3 passed the medical step mill. so if you fail that twice does that mean you get taken off the list. i'm not really worried now because i have a high #. but i also read that they might get to around 1000-1200 by june for the medicals.

Any of you guys know if they're skipping around? I am in the 600s and I have yet to receive a letter about my psych or medical; or even be assigned an investigator, for that matter.

I did just send in my final March 08 residency proof, so I don't know if that might have some bearing.

I called them today and left a message, but I've yet to hear back. Just curious and hoping I didn't miss something in the mail.

    Thanks.
Just a peon proby in the greatest job in the world; grinning ear to ear.

Well I got back a few hours ago from metro tech. I handed all my papers in and the guy helping me told me that he may be my investigator, maybe not. I have a couple more things to mail into them, nothing really major though. I'm quite pleased with how easy it was. He also told me that someone would be assigned to me by the end of the week so I'd imagine everyone has an investigator more or less right away. I would call until you can get someone on the phone. On the med/psych stuff, there seemed to be some guys taking the psych part when I got there just before 7 am. I was told that I would be receiving info on both of those in 3ish weeks.

You should call 718-999-3369 its the FDNY recruitment number. The girl I had spoken to answered all my questions and than asked me my list number which is in the 1300's and told me to expect my packet in June-August to start paper work for Jan of 09. I don't know if that has any bearing on 1000-1200 but I was hoping that could help you alittle.

AnchorC Did they say how much people there gonna call in the next round of people on the list? I know it's 300 a class but they called 1200 people off the list because they couldn't find enuff people that made the cut.
