What did Sam Houston have to do with the fire service?
I know who he was, but know nothing about why we have a helmet named after him. (Much like Ben Franklin...but I know why he has his own helmet)
Just wondering.
Spanks.

I believe it was due to the Houston FD using the leather helmet but needing a NFPA approved one. So they took the person who the city got their name from. Not 100% sure of this but this is what I have been told. Chris

Here's what I know:
Sam Houston was a big part in TN's history as well, so I know his background from history classes thru the years, and I know SHSU (Huntsville) is his namesake....but I couldn't find anything on him and the fire service.
Thanks for the info. Glad somebody knew something. LoL.

Soooooo, from what I've seen, I've concluded that Sam Houston has his own helmet for no reason.
Beg to differ? Please share. Enlighten me.

actually... the world's most famous *** kicking would be the Battle of San Jacinto...
In 18 minutes of combat, the Texan army had won, killing about 630 Mexican soldiers, wounding 208 and taking 730 prisoners.[3]
and they lost....
9....
nine people and 30 wounded....The Box. You opened it. We Came...
