My question is about drug use in the past....

I smoked marijuana when I was fourteen years old.

I was caught by the police and taken to the police station.

They told me it would not go on record, and nothing of mine was taken, no picture, fingerprints, nothing.

That was the first, and last time I ever did a drug.

When I enlisted in the marine corps, they gave me no problems.

My question is, should I tell the interview people about that?

Brian- I am NOT a Background investigator or Expert in this area. From what I have gathered over the years, you will be fine. Just be honest and tell the same stroy to a BG Investigator if/when asked.

It seems like most people have the same thing before and after the age of 18 and its usually understandable to the BGI.

Just be honest and upfront and you'll do fine.

They might say "In the last 10 years" or since you were 18 or something. If thats the case, things will be easier.

If they ask you if you ever used drugs without any time limitation, I would answer truthfully, exactly what you just told us. I understand it was basically nothing and for all intent and purpose, you might as well have never done it. But if you say no and then get asked that in a polygraph, you'll fail.

Tell them. Most places understand a one time incident in your youth. Don't lie; If they find out you lied that's immediate grounds for dismissal.

That happened to my brother, he too was 14 or 15 at the time. It came off his record when he turned 18 but he still listed it and said yes during his polygraph. He got hired with a very respectable dept with no problem when he was 20.

If you're asked about it tell the truth. That's the best advice I can give you!
