    That's not very catchy.

Do you fight what they fear? LOL
I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

ChicagoFF : "In my opinion, no career has more cheesy and embarrassing catch phrases the the fire department."

    I'll second that.

Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.

"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.

Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite.

Y'know, for once I have to agree with CFF.

    The old battalion chief,

If you f87ers don't put this fire out in the next five minutes you'll all work at the airport for the rest of your f47king careers.

    Sorry crash rescue guys.

The following are a hodge podge of quotes I've heard over the years:

Left for life; right for reach

EMS is the last three letters of the word "PROBLEMS"

When the ladder goes up, the walls come down

When you lose your head at a fire, the next thing you lose will be your a**

Screaming at a fire scene is the first sign of a rectal/cranial inversion

Prevent CHAOS - Chief Has Arrived On Scene

    No good deed goes unpunished

NEVER pass up the opportunity to keep your mouth shut

Those "C"-Shifters were OUTSTANDING... OUT STANDING in the yard

None of the above are mine... someone alot smarter than me thought each of these up!

After hearing from a 9 month "wonder probie" how certain things should be done differently I held up my hand to silence him and said,"There's only one captain in this company and I don't think it's you."

Same idiot saying how he was such an asset because he was an EMT before getting on the F.D..(not required on my job)
I said,"That's fine, but EMT spells empty."

EMS: We don't save lives, we just prolong your miserable existence.

No one ever called the fire department/EMS because someone did something smart.

One quote that I have always like is...

This is posted at the National Fire Academy. And though it's only a sentence it really says a lot about the fire service and some dinosaurs who think we don't need to train.

"You gotta have water gozinta the pump, before you have water gozotta the pump." -Former Deputy Chief while teaching pump class, stuck with me for 17 years now.

"Make me proud." - What I say to my people, maybe a little too much.

Similar to the one I use:

Fire should not be an emergency to us: It's our business.

Fire is an emergency to the property owner or occupant.

4 pages and no one mentioned the king of all quotes...

"Nothing counts 'til you have the badge . . . Nothing!"

Something our department needs to learn:

flying bombers for the air force, we try to keep this in mind when it comes to training

    "Challenge yourself, the enemy will."

That relates well to the fire service I think.
