My husband Timothy ( Tim) Sipes passed away suddenly while visiting his parents in FL.
Through Tim's career which began in 1969 in Lower Burrell Pa as a volunteer Paramedic/firefighter then Air Force Fire, Federal Paid Firefighter at Hanscom AFBase and Newport Naval Station Fire - he loved what he did and those he worked with.
The men from Newport Naval Fire Dept and Hanscom AFBase Fire, Oakland/Mapleville, RI Fire Dept honored him with thier attendance and respect. His friends assisted with taking care of all the details with the Fire Dept end to help me.
I was deeply moved by the many who were there for all of us. He hadn't seen some of the men in a few years as he retired in 2005, but word spread and I recieved many words of support and calls as this was a shock to many, Tim was only 53.
He had retired in 2005 with some mixed emotions, always with the scanner on whenever he heard something going on in our rural town.
I want to say that I respect the many that were there for Tim, it helped all of us so much.
The grandsons speak of the moving ceremony which will last for a lifetime in their young minds. One of our grandsons recently joined the local volunteer fire dept. Tim would have been so proud and supporting him.
I have witnessed a unique group of men give a "Brother" the respect in death, no matter if he was absent from the profession.
They are truly a bunch of decent, kind men/women.
My deepest thanks for all they did for me and my children, grandchildren and family. It will never be forgotten.
Though I have thanked them we can never thank them enough.
May all the kindness they gave to us return to them tenfold, and may they all have a long and healthy life.
Sincerely
C Sipes

to "a Happy mom" and "Futureemt "
Thank you for your message and thoughts.
We now have a second grandson who joined the Local Volunteer Fire Dept.
I do think that by joining is helping them in the healing process of losing their grandfather.
Rick told me Thank you grandma for suggesting joining, as he needed to complete community service in high school. He is in Love with the Fire Dept.
He always visited Tim while at work when they were young and for them now to recieve the experience is exciting to them. The older men are a great role model to them as well.
Rick swears Tim is with him as he had to take some tests and he said "the answers just came to me "
Thanks again
Chris
