Default Digging out from storms 5 Feb 08

Major damage across Tennessee from last nights storm. I lost count after 8 or 10 tornado warnings.

Union University in Jackson TN reports losing ALL of their student housing and had 8 students trapped in rubble. Responders were talking to all 8 according to initial reports - with more storms bearing down on them.

One Jackson, TN hospital was hit and reported damage.

Madison County FD lost one station.

A natural gas pumping station closer to Nashville was apparently hit and was shooting flames 500+ feet into the air.

Major damage reported in Memphis as well.

13 fatalities statewide reported as of 05:00 on the 6th.

I'm sure there are many more harrowing stories that will come out of this. Lots of our brothers will be hard at it through the day after a very long night - keep them in your thoughts.

I caught a small amount of the news last night, enough to know bad stuff was happening, and then a better report this morning. A quick call to Firecat confirmed she is ok, just hope the best for everyone else out there: Doug and all, best wishes for digging out, and hope y'all came through with the minimum of difficulties.

    Ullrich,

I live around 50 miles north of the pumping station and it lit the sky up here like a morning sunrise.
The evidence of God's presence far outweighs the
    proof of His absence.

All the RA's went through the building banging on our doors at 1:45 in the morning waking us up telling us to go down to the first floor hallway because thats the buildings "shelter." They kept us down there for about 30 minutes before we were allowed back upstairs. Nobody really knew what was going on until later this morning.
