I am relocating to Eastern Carolina - My office will be in Nags Head. I am looking for a good place to move to that has a pretty active volunteer dept. I am FF2 and EMT-B.
Any Ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

FD's that I know of, going from NORTH to SOUTH, geographically:
-Duck
-Corolla
-Southern Shores
-Kill Devil Hills
-Kitty Hawk
-Nags Head
On Roanoke Island,
-Manteo
(SOUTH of Oregon Inlet)
-Rodanthe
-Salvo
-Avon
-Buxton
-Frisco
-Hattaras
Then you have Ocracoke Island, with just the Ocracoke FD."Loyalty Above all Else. Except Honor."

A very close friend is Asst Chief and Pres of the BOD at Avon if you are interested, but Avon is way south of Nags Head.

Nags Head have a volunteer dept. but they aren't utilized much and may even be ditched in the next few years (they run 2 paid trucks, soon to be three). All the other town have good volunteer programs, including Roanoke Island (all volunteer, 2 stations), Kill Devil Hills, Colington, and Kitty Hawk (one paid engine crew, 1 station). Volunteers are alerted to all fire/rescue calls, as 99% of the EMS assist calls are handled by the paid guys. Volunteer stations are usually only toned out to EMS calls if requested by EMS.
