    Thanks for the link!

I'll have to show that one at drill sometime.

From the video quality, I'm guessing that this was sometime in the early to mid 80's.

Was it that recently that FF's didn't regularly wear SCBA at a fire?

I'm guessing 84-85 based on the O2 equipment and the portable radios.

I regularly didn't wear one in the early 90s.....probably the same for others too.

Amazing how these rescues were accomplished without a "FAST" team with all the snazy, high tech gear and all the other useless acronyms we currently have.
Just a bunch a men with brass nads......especially the lad who after being pulled out, continued to work on getting the rest of his brothers out.

A couple of things to note:
    1. The gloves
    2. The plastic helmets
    3. I did not see one air pack
    4. The sad thing this was not that long ago and I remember those days, And I'm just a kid! Ha Ha

But seriously My first set of turn outs looked just like that! Without the orange ball gloves. It brings me back to my fathers time.

That video looks like it occured somewhere on the near southside. It also looks like it was from the late 70's. Look at the gear. It was pre-Commissary. Also those crappy plastic helmets were replaced by not quite as crappy 880's in the early 80's. The American flag was replaced by a Chicago flag then the "combi-flag"...I am going to go out on a limb and say it was 1979. No later then 1983... Of course I am probably wrong.

I think one of the engines in the very beginning is 29 which would make you right about near southside or bridgeport. As to the rest - you'd know more about it than I would.

I am just guessing. But I wonder where Rockie is ? He would have a much better idea. If you look at the end, the unmarked chiefs buggies look like late 70's very early 80's..It also looks like they are on State Street. But once again, I am just guessing. Yo Rockie...Get out of the sun and answer some questions!
