Default AF Plant 42 hiring firefighter

the dodfire.com has the info posted for a firefighter position at Air Force Plant 42, located in Palmdale, CA. It shows DO pumper, arff and MWS as requirements, but I don't think this is correct. If any one is intersted in applying, I can ask the Chief if the driver certs are required.

    Department basics

48/96 schedule, starting pay is about 63k, 2 stations, usually pretty slow, expect lots of OT. We are private contract, but it is run just like a DOD department.

Any questions just post them here, I will check this thread frequently.

We should have another opening in May.

    Stay safe,

    K

Sorry guys, but the Rescue Tech is required. The cert has to be in hand or the Chief will just toss your resume.

i'll hopefully be through rescue tech school by mid-summer. It's amazing what kinda doors having hazmat tech and rescue tech open up for you.

Do you have your NREMT-Basic?? many more doors will be open with NREMT-B and HazMat Tech... you can get a GS-07 spot with those... but you also need your basic IFSAC certs, with driver op.

is this position still open? I have a buddy who applied for this but was told they hired someone more qualified. If it is still open can one still apply? I saw on dodfire that the closing date for applications was 4 March...

Does experience (6 yrs) on a volunteer/per diem department count?
Do these companies hire female firefighter/EMTs?

    Kit1983,

You need 3 years fulltime arff experience at a minimum, plus all certs. We do not care if you are female or male. Who ever qualifies and gives the best interview, gets the job.
