Hello from Scotland

I've been looking at the site for a while and eventually decided to register. I've recently retired after 30 years with Brigades in Scotland and England. My wife and I will be visiting New York for the first time in March and hope to visit a couple for firehouses to say hello/pictures etc but am unsure as to how welcome this is. Some of the firehouses must get overseas visitors almost on a daily basis, I've had mixed reactions on visits to firehouses in Florida and wonder if this is the same?
Anyway, its a great site and I am taking great interest in some of the topics being discussed. I'd look forward to hearing from other firefighters on this site.

Hello to StevieC in Scotland. My family name is Huskey, which i'm told partially originates in Scotland. Can you shed any light on that? My ancestry is a real mishmash from all over Europe; England Ireland Wales (Scotland?)
