Default Putting name on turnout coat

I have an older set of janesville bunker gear and I'm considering placing my last name on the back of my coat. My question is what is the best way to go about this, such as a name panel, sew on letters, iron on letters, etc. Thanks

Try calling CHIEF. They should be able to help you out with applying your name on to your turnout gear.

    Good luck

Well i would consider what everyone else has on their coats. I would not go with the iron-on because when you turn 18, you will most likely use the same gear and the name will come off. i would go with a name panal or sew ons.

Get a sew on name panel made out of the same materials as your turnout gear. I know Galls used to offer these. Sew to the jacket around the edges of the panel and if you have to remove it later, it comes off relatively easy by taking scissors to the stitching.
Just know, I chose my own fate. I drove by the fork in the road and went straight.

    A few things to consider:

Does the rest of your deparment do it? Better to not stand out if no.

Is the gear old? Don't put a new name rocker on an old beaten' coat.

Check with the manufacturer of the coat to be sure that putting the name rocker on does not is some way damage the coats barriers or void any kind of guarantee.

I was told to put my name with SHARPIE on my coat (the reflective lining): my last name on top and EXPLORER on bottom.

However, I don't think that it was the best idea, because perm. markers don't quite come out of turnout gear...but it was chief's orders!

We have velcro and get a name plate to put on which we can take off if we need to put it on new gear.
