    Now you've done it...

Now I am not trying to be an *****, but really think about what you asked. How could that ever be possible? It cannot. What are are you looking for? You would be surprised as to how many different sites there are to listen to different frequencies. If you tell me what you are looking for, I would be happy to find out for you.

I'm not trying to be a smart-@$$ either but the only way you're going to get your local stuff off the web is if someone out there local to you is "web-casting" your local frequencies.

I mean it's RADIO traffic - so a web site on a server located in California couldn't very well receive my local radio traffic here in Virginia and then re-broadcast it across the web (that'd be one helluva "atmospheric bounce" if they did )

It's not like your local radio station (or a syndicate show) that does streaming broadcast from their web site. Those types of set-ups the broadcaster actually WANTS you to hear their program because they get advertising dollars based on how big their audience is. So broadcasting across the internet makes the $$ investment for the equipment to do it worthwhile.

Most Fire/EMS/Police broadcasters, on the other hand, DON'T really want or care if you hear what they are saying and thus they aren't willing to invest in the equipment required to do web based streaming audio.

Typically speaking in the cases you DO find those types of broadcasts being streamed over the web, it's because a department, member, or local Fire & Radio Buff has set up their own budget style streaming site.

Now if deep down your real question is "Is there some way I can find out if someone is web-casting my local frequencies" - then yea there's a way - but you might need to post a little more information like a specific town, county, city and/or some of the frequencies in use there.

Also try asking your question (a little clearer) on the forums at www.radioreference.com

Hope that gets you closer to where you want to be, however I think you're most likely going to find that volfirie had the best answer.

now are you looking to hook your scanner to the internet, so while your at work or away on vacation you could log in and go online and listen to whats going? there is a program called windows media encoder, you can use that and plug your scanner into your sound card, windows media encoder will generate a url that you can copy to windows media player and listen to the streaming sound, watch out though the output on most scanners will damage sound card if you turn the volume up tooo much.

Firefeeds.com is a nice one (but it's a pay site).
