A Morehead man died of natural causes while working at a scrap metal yard this week.
Rowan County Coroner John P. Northcutt said Glennis Ray Reynolds, 64, of Christy Creek, was found dead by a family member at 9:10 p.m. Monday, March 3 after he did not return home.
Reynolds had been working by himself at a scrap metal yard on Freeman Chadwell Hill off Christy Creek, Northcutt said. A fire apparently started from a welding torch and Reynolds apparently attempted to extinguish the fire using a tractor.
“The tractor became lodged on a tree stump and Mr. Reynolds apparently suffered a heart attack while using a power saw to free the tractor from the stump,” Northcutt said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Assisting at the scene were Kentucky State Police Troopers Keith Howard and Joshua Pigman, Rowan County Deputy Sheriff Donnie Hall, Elliottville Fire Department and Morehead-Rowan County EMS.
