Anyone that would be willing to let me see a winning narrative for Scba/tic for a department that is classified rural, I would be appreciative. Some basic stats- an average 70 to 90 calls a year with an average age of scba 20 years with newest unit 1995 and oldest 1979. <10000 operations budget closer to 5000 with 70 sq miles to cover 10 members . I have an idea on my major points just would like to see a well laid out narrative.
Thanks Tas

SCBA request also
I have an neighboring department about the same size who would like a copy of a successful narrative. The Chief has tried every year for an award but hasn't received an award yet. Thanks in advance for the help.

We were denied last year for SCBA and we are at the end of our use cycle. Can I receive a copy of a winning narrative as well? I thought I wrote it very well and according to the guidelines but we didn't get to peer review. We are in desperate times. Thank you all for your help.

Wow it seems as though everyone comes out of the woodwork right now when it comes to saying "we have tried for mutliple years and failed". Where are you guys when the training seminars are going on? I am here to help anyone out there but, you should have been asking for help 90 days ago. Why the procrastination? That is probably why your previous attempts are failing is because you are rushing a half-baked proposal forward without attention to detail or true understanding of what it is you are asking for and how to ask for it.

Scba Narrative Help
Our department also has been rejected for funds to help replace 1987 edition scba's that are in awful shape. I was hoping to find someone that is willing to share a winning Narrative to compare ours too. I would appreciate any help anyone out here has to offer. Thank you!!!! Please email to goose13313@yahoo.com

Kurt, we are done and our narratives are being looked at by Bill Jennaway from PA. I did attend a local seminar and received much info but I wanted to check mine against one that has been approved. I get a little gun shy, that's all.

I know Kurt but I did get a few PM's with sayings like that. Once we got our DJ last year we have been putting things together bits and pieces. It is tough to get an outsider to see your needs and understand that the local fundinf just isn't there. I am glad for the few people on this board that really do care and look out for one another. Thank you.

That's why outsiders help: anyone other than you is a potential peer reviewer, and Mr Jenaway is right next door to you so the local suburban Philly knowledge is present. People have perceptions when they read things, and it's entirely possible that anyone around you will make leaps in logic that might not actually be in the narrative. No one from PA will see your narrative, probably no one from the east coast. That's why outsiders are better to review sometimes, you get a different perspective on things. It is tough to get an outsider to see your needs and understand that the local funding just isn't there.
Like my favorite saying goes: you can't think outside the box when you're in it.
