Thumbs down Don't Work For Orange County

Contract talks have broken down... again. The county goes back on their word and offers us nothing, and that is after postponing the meeting for 4 hours and then making our union reps wait an additional 3 hours in the lobby!! They then acted as if they never heard of steps before, after agreeing to them in previous meetings. Total disregard and disrespect. Advice to potential candidates/new hires-- use OCFD as a stepping stone to another FD. You can get your Paramedic cert. for free and while on shift and then take that to a Fire Department that you will be able to pay your bills with. I am truly disgusted and over the whole thing. Be safe out there everyone.

Our city has done the same thing to us so many times we quit counting. They agree on an article and then when it comes time for a vote they pretend like they never heard about it. We are in the same boat now. I feel your pain.
If your going to cry about doing the job you signed up for do us all a favor and quit, there are plenty of dedicated people standing in line for the best job in the world.

What else would you like to thank them for bro. A job? A pension? Good hours? Paid vacation and sick leave? Enlighten us please.

    Default Transport ?

Is the Orlando Slantenal story correct that your union is working with the same people that won't give you a contract, to support the decision to begin transporting in all county protected areas ?

WOW talk about generous. They won’t increase your pay to a competitive level…… but they are willing to DOUBLE your work load. Hope they count the real number of medics, not those at the Blue Roof Inn!!!

Hope you guys get the real contract you deserve, at least you won’t have to wait until the next contract to negotiate about transport pay.

    Stay safe

I would now try to use that increase in revenue to get a pay raise. This added revenue with help retain more personnel with competitive wages. We transport all ALS patients, BLS handles the rest, if we request them. If we didn't have BLS we would run out of ALS units daily.
