Default Explorer post from scratch in Ohio

My husband and I need tons of advice and knowledge. We need to know how to start a explorer program in Ohio. Any webpages? Any phone numbers? Any restrictions? Anything at all will be helpful as our department hasnt had a explorer group since the early 90s.
    Thanks!

There are other posts on this that may have some information for you. If not, call the local Boys Scouts office, they run the explorer program so that it comes under their insurance.

I'm on the Post in Rossford, OH. I'd be glad to help... Unfortunately, I don't have our paper work and such on my computer, but I can point you in the right direction. RFRDxplorer (another explorer on my post whose on here) has all that stuff... Send him a PM and I know he'll be willing to help out.

Also, we have a Muster every July and if you guys get rolling in enough time, I'll send you some information on that if you're interested. We also do a Mock Disaster in Monroe County, MI every May - it's always the Saturday before Memorial Day. The Bedford, MI post puts that on and we participate in it every year along with 3 other Fire posts and one Police post... If you're interested in that, I'll pass more info along to you for that as well.

Good luck. If you need any help, just ask.

Sorry I hadnt checked this in a while! I would love to pick your brain about this program

We have a definite interest here in Fayette so its time to get crackin' on this project. The Muster sounds like alot of fun! We are hosting the Antique fire muster for the Northwest Ohio Vol. Fire Assoc. so we know all about that

I will send you a PM shortly to get info.

    Thanks again!

This is probably in one of the links already provided, but just in case it isn't:

    http://nvfc.org/juniors

When I was a Junior FF/Explorer back in 1990-1991, we were under the Boy Scouts (yes, I was a card-carrying "Boy Scout" for about a year before I became a regular member of the FD ). I tried looking on the Boy Scout website, but didn't see anything worth linking to. Maybe someone else has something.

    Good luck.

I looked at the NVFC website and their display at Firehouse Expo and was not impressed. It is more for little kids who want to play fireman than those who are actually interested in learning things and participating on calls if possible.

I will send that email hopefully sometime soon.

Well, you didn't ask for the info. Jami did.

It's BRAND NEW give it a chance. Instead of knocking the program, did you offer to help?

Oh, those ten emails weren't to you, they were to the NVFC. They obviously had everything they needed I guess.

Jami, you might try doing some calling around. Bryan and Montpelier both have Explorer programs, and Stryker has what they call Jr. Firefighters.

Never knew that... I will have to look into sending some info their way for our Muster also. Do you happen to have any clue of who I'd need to contact to get a address for them?
