#1 piece of advice: The duty person lives at the fire station so respect their house.

Please feel free to add other pieces of advice for probies.

#3: Respect the volunteers. Treat them well. Unless, of course, you like working by yourself.
My opinions might coincide with someone of importance's POV... I wouldn't know, since I never bothered to ask. My policy is: "Don't ask, don't care."

I agree with this as well. Respect is a 2 way street and both sides benifit each other.

If you are a new Volunteer at a combination department, and you don't feel like you should have to do something because it's not your job ask yourself this one question: "Why do we have a volunteer program, is it to fulfill the needs of the department or to fulfill my desire to be a firefighter?" Another small bit of advice is if you still don't think you should have to do something, keep it to yourself, no matter how valid a point you think you have it makes you sound lazy and selfish.
