Think AR-AFFF 3-3. Does your hydrocarbon fires and also ethanol fires.
Ethanol fires are is already a significant issue and is going to become more so. Very good bet that railcar loads of ethanol are transisting your area to sites to blend with gasoline for E10. So if you're buying $5-6000 in foam, with a 20yr life, good idea for long term solution.
AFFF has no value whatsoever for ethanol fires.Last edited by neiowa; 03-25-2008 at 10:13 PM.

305- No winning winning grants here, we've tried two years in row. This year the local FEMA guy's chart shows foam "vehicle" as Tier 3 vehicles, of which they say they have no plans to fund. Unless you can put the trailer under Equipment? Maybe someones gone that route?

Foam vehicle and foam trailer would be in two different catagories, I believe.

Trailer would be under equipment.
Likely this would be a regional resource (or certainly should be). Recruiting a few other FD in the area to sign on to your "regional grant app" likely might improve you chance of success. In particular if one was a paid FD and could get them to act as the lead applicant (then app is under paid category which recieves a minimum ____% of the FG).Last edited by neiowa; 03-28-2008 at 12:25 PM.

I'm not looking at the PG, but i'm thinking that the foam trailer would not be eligible as a regional. Onebugle will quote the PG, but if i recall correctly regional equipment has to be dispersed among the departments instead of all in one spot.
I could be wrong in my memory, or there could be an exception.

Greenacres is correct. This would not be eligible as a regional project. One of the guiding rules for regionals is that everybody has to get a piece of the project. The "regional" application is better left to the narrative where you can expand on the benefits of the unit beyond just your local response area.
